Myrtle Beach Golf Vacations Can Provide Exactly What You Are Looking For
January 31st, 2007
Many people book Myrtle Beach golf vacations without realizing what they are letting themselves in for. They don’t understand that Myrtle Beach offers so much that they will have to practically force themselves to the course each morning, rather than enjoying the other attractions that Myrtle Beach has to offer.
Myrtle Beach has been given the accolades the “Seafood Capital of Carolina”, “the Golf Capital of the World” and the “Miniature Golf Capital of the World”. At least one of these is true: with 47 miniature golf courses at the last count you have no fear of taking your family to Myrtle Beach. What could be better: you play golf, the family tries its hand at miniature golf and you all meet up for some wonderful seafood. There are no arguments about who is spending all his or her time on the golf course and everybody is happy doing their own thing.
Golf and Water Sports – Everyone is Happy
There is also a whole raft of water sports to try out – the pun is not accidental - and a whole beachful of entertainment, from the latest white knuckle rides to arcade slot machines. There is something to suit everybody from grandparents to grandchildren. This is what makes a proper vacation: everybody enjoying what they like doing without anybody sitting around bored, as happens with too many golfing vacations. There is just too much to do in Myrtle Beach for anyone to feel left out.
The number of golf courses in the area is increasing annually, and they have been designed by Arnold Palmer, Greg Norman, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, among other famous golfers and specialized designers such as P.B. and Pete Dye. There are packages available that include accommodation and full board, but if you want to design your own vacation you can do so. You have to book your tee times well in advance, and get your accommodation fixed up early, but if you do it right you can have a great vacation, designed just as you want it.
A Myrtle Beach Golf Vacation Needs to be Booked Well in Advance
You will find it difficult if you just turn up at Myrtle Beach and look for a room and some free tee time. It’s a very popular resort, and much in demand, and while there are always cancellations available, you will be just one of hundreds looking for them. Unless you have some inside information, you will have little chance of having as a good a vacation than if you had planned well ahead.

Golf anybody?
January 27th, 2007
Golf is a great game: sometimes rewarding, often frustrating but highly addictive. Getting started in it is actually not so difficult, and hopefully this article can help you avoid some of the common pitfalls.
The very first steps.
The biggest mistake by people wanting to start in golf is to rush out and buy a brand new set of shiny and expensive golf clubs. While they are nice to look at you should keep in mind that today’s golf equipment comes in great varieties to cater for different golfing types and abilities. Since you’re just starting out you do not know which set fits you best. Just imagine the envious looks you get at the driving range when you come with your $2000 set, and the subsequent laughter when you try and just ‘hack away’ - not worth the embarrassment! Once you spend a few hundred or even thousand $$ on a set that doesn’t suit your style you’re stuck with it or you have to sell it to somebody else at a loss.
If you feel you want your own clubs get a half set. This generally comprises five irons and perhaps two woods and a putter. Usually the irons are the odd numbers 3,5,7,9 and wedge. These clubs are more than enough to get you started.
A better alternatively: most Driving Ranges will have clubs for hire, so you can try out a few different ones. You can also borrow one or two clubs from a friend. The shortest iron (nine iron) or a wedge are the best clubs to start, practicing with it will give you the feeling of hitting the ball in the air and should be fairly straight forward.
Where to get golf clubs?
Most Pro shops and driving ranges sell second hand clubs. They will also be able to offer you advice and let you try some clubs out. Alternatively, nearly all driving ranges will have clubs for hire if you want to have a go without committing to a set until you get the hang of it. Or ask other people at the driving range, you will soon find out that many have another set of clubs at home because they made the exact same mistakes I mentioned above. Make sure you try before you buy, if they fit (and only if they fit!) you can often get them for a steal. I again stress that you need to have a basic understanding on which club suits you reasonably well before you buy. DO NOT buy expensive brands at this stage.
“I want to play, I want to play!”
As hard as it will be to contain yourself, don’t even contemplate going anywhere near a golf course. Golf is technically quite demanding, and without at least some basic training you’ll end up with a lot of frustration. You’ve seen the top players on TV loosing their cool in frustration, imagine how you will feel if not even a single shot goes where you want it to. Besides, the other people having to wait for you will also not be happy.
As a beginner at the great game of golf, start off at a driving range, take at least four or five lessons, learn the fundamentals, progress to a 9 hole course and eventually venture out into the great unknown of an 18 hole golf course. Believe me, it will be a lot more fun for you and those around you if you follow this path.
Where to get lessons?
You will meet plenty of people at the range who will teach you the ‘innermost secrets’ of golf. Fact is that most of them have started playing not long before you. So the answer to the above question is: go to a Professional. As you have seen on TV, even the world’s top players have a coach. Tiger Woods, probably the best golfer the world, still takes lessons. Certified Golf Professionals are the only people qualified to teach you how to play the game. Lessons from a Pro will cost you money but will be the best investment you’ll ever make. Taking the advise from the ‘know-it-all’ people at the range will likely screw-up your game at the very early stage, and it will take a long time to correct the faults later.
The two places to get golf lessons are at driving ranges and golf clubs. You don’t have to be a member of a club to get a lesson from the Pro. You bring in money, so they will be glad to help. The usual cost is about $25-40 per 45 min, but you will get reductions for a block booking. If you are a bit on the budget see if they do group bookings, those are also cheaper than individual lessons.
What else to do?
Books and videos can be invaluable in learning the basics. To build a sound golf swing you will need the three fundamentals: Grip, Stance and Posture. There are some very good books and videos on the market that will help you to establish the three fundamentals. And watch the Pro’s on the TV, or better still video them and play back in slow motion, you’ll learn a lot this way. Don’t get blinded by too much science, you’re still a beginner. Stick to Grip, Stance and Posture and you’ll be on your way. Take a look at the golf tips and golf lessons on our website ‘LearnAboutGolf.com’ for some advice as well.
Summary
1. Don’t waste your money on expensive clubs until you have reached a basic level of competency.
2. Don’t go near a Golf Course, again until you have reached a basic level.
3. Get lessons from a qualified professional.
4. Learn the three fundamentals
5. Watch the Pro’s.
6. Practice.
7. Learn the rules of golf and the basic golf etiquette.

Gold full hand swing
January 27th, 2007
You would have obviously heard about the gold full hand swing. The swing plays a very important role while playing golf. It deiceds the destiny of the golf ball. Putts and short chips are ideally played without much movement of the body, but most other golf shots are played using variants of the full golf swing. The full swing is used in tee and fairway shots.
We need to know about the full swing, it means the complex rotation of the body aimed at accelerating the club head to a great speed. The full golf swing is an unnatural, highly complex motion and notoriously difficult to learn. For a right hander, it consists of a backswing to the right, a downswing to the left (in which the ball is hit), and a follow through. It is a very common thing for the new commers to practice for months, for the full hand swing. the player stands with the left shoulder and hip pointing in the intended direction of ball flight, with the ball before the feet and the club is held with both hands, the clubhead resting on the ground behind the ball, hips and knees somewhat flexed, and the arms hanging from the shoulders.
The backswing is a rotation to the right, consisting of a shifting of the player’s body weight to the right side, a turning of the pelvis and shoulders, lifting of the arms and flexing of the elbows and wrists. After the Golf ball is hit then the next stage consists of a continued rotation to the left. You need professional instruction if you want to get the perfect swing. It can never be aquired even if we keep practising for several months or years. Golf simulator may help you.
Very few golfers play with their left hand. Even if there are players who are left handers, they choose to play the right hand swing. This has been mosty because then we could not find left-handed golf clubs. A golfer who plays right-handed, but holds the club left-hand-below-right is said to be “cack-handed”. It is difficult to obtain the same consistency.

A Golf Swing Tip To Remember
January 26th, 2007
How many golf swing tips can you remember. If you’re an avid (and fanatic) golfer, you look for a tip for your golf swing daily. I know I went through a phase when that was the case. I would read every magazine front to back. I bought every video that came out. And I would ask for a golf tip right on the course. I was a golf tip junkie at the time.
A Tip For Your Swing
If I were to say one thing you should remember is…make sure a tip is directly applicable to your current swing faults and mishits. Don’t worry about any other advice. Focus on your swing, and making it as good as you can.
So many times golfers here or read more tips than their brains can retain, and the old “paralysis-by-analysis” sets in. Has that ever happened to you? You get to the course with all these great tips in your head then you blank when you start your round. Man…what a crappy feeling to not know what you are doing on the course with your swing or how to correct it.
Here’s a golf tip I’ve used in my swing that works great during the middle of a round.
It is very common to start getting quick with your swing as the round progresses. Your body is warmed up, and your brain says, “lets air it out a bit”. So you start swinging quicker and harder, causing your timing and sequence of motion to be altered.
I do a 1-2-3 count during my swing to get my tempo back. That is I count one on the take away. Two at the to of my swing (it feels like I’m pausing a bit), then three on the way down and into my finish. It literally feels like my swing is in slow motion, but I end up hitting the ball just as far, and with much better tempo and swing mechanics.

Ice Hockey
January 25th, 2007
Great Britain and France are the origins of Ice Hockey. The first evidence of ice hockey goes back to 500 years. Many people believe that, field hockey players made some adjustments in field hockey, so that they could play during cold and icy winter months. The origin of the word hockey is perhaps the French word ?hoquet? denoting a ?bent stick?.
Ice hockey was first introduced in North America by British sailors, who arrived at Nova Scotia. At almost the same time, students at McGill University in Montreal also began playing ice hockey. In due course of time, a small ice hockey club, with four teams, was formed in Ontario. It gradually began growing, and in a short time, clubs from different cities started playing against each other. Lord Stanley of Preston, an English Governor General, recognized the ability of these early players and teams created a unique silver bowl, to give as an award to the best amateur ice hockey team. This was the commencement of the Stanley Cup.
Earlier, an ice hockey team used to have nine players, but later the number was reduced to seven. Each team would have two defensive players, a goalie, and a ?rover?, who played the whole rink. The first professional ice hockey league was formed in 1904, in Michigan. It broke up three years later. Then, three years after that, the National Hockey Association (NHA) and the Pacific Coast League (PCL) were established. At the end of First World War in 1917, NHA became the National Hockey League and in late 1920s, Pacific Coast league was disbanded. Initially, there were only ten teams.

How Would You Like To Play Golf With Tiger Woods?
January 24th, 2007
I generally go to sleep, yawn, get restless, surf TV channels and do all sorts of other stuff when golf is on. Quite frankly, golf absolutely bores me. If you are a gamer though, things are quite different.
The Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 on Playstation 3 is a very exciting game to play. This particular series is going to be a blast. Right from the beginning you will be amazed at the performance of the game. It loads in a few seconds.
When the loading is done you are given many different options to choose from. The most noticeable option is that of Career Mode. In this mode you can create your own custom golfer.
Some of the other modes include: match play, alternate shot, battle golf, best ball, stroke play, skins, practice and many more. Each type of game has its own rules, but there is still something there for everyone.
One of the best matches to play is Battle Golf. It is basically match play with an entertaining twist. During this match you will play a normal golf game. But after every hole the winner gets a special treat.
That treat is the removal of an opponents golf club. That means any club in their set can be removed. It’s a great feeling when your opponent has only a few clubs at his disposal while you still have all of yours.
Creating and developing your own unique golfer is one of the highlights of the game. You get to design them to look like whatever you want. You are free to design your golfer right down to the very last detail.
You can also choose the type of reactions they have on the course. If all you got to do was design a character and just look at that character, the game would quickly lose its appeal. Luckily, theres much more to do with your created character than just looking at him/her, and the best thing to do is to start a career.
Career mode allows you to take your character through many different tournaments and matches. You will face off with some of golfs well known names, such as Tiger Woods, John Daly, Justin Leonard, Mike Weir, Jim Furyk, and many more.
In order to compete with these pro golfers and become the best, you will have to create one heck of a great golfer. However, creating a superstar golfer is not that simple.
After all, Tiger Woods did not become a great golfer over night. But thats beside the point. The point is you will need plenty of training and practice to reach your peak as a golfer. You do that by taking your character through a few different mini games. They will develop your character’s individual attributes.

Start With A Used Golf Club
January 23rd, 2007
Golf is one of the most popular sports in
the world today. Everyday, thousands of people
grab their clubs and head down to the local
course to enjoy a round of golf. However, one
thing about golf is that the equipment can be
very expensive. That’s why it is always a
good idea to start with a used golf club and
even other used golf equipment.
Especially if you are just starting out and not
really knowing whether you will enjoy it or not.
Buying a used golf club is very easy. Many golf
stores will stock used or second hand clubs or
even websites such as eBay can be used to find
really affordable used clubs.
If you are really stuck then why not just ask
a golfer if they have any old clubs that they
simply don’t use anymore. You may be surprised
that they will often just give them away,
especially to beginners who want to take up
the game. Many will have used golf clubs that
are just stored away, since many golfers
do buy the latest clubs, they always will have
spare ones.
Another good reason to start with a used golf club
is that it doesn’t really matter too much if
you happen to damge it. One thing you will learn
when starting off is that the club is going to
end up in the ground more times than it isn’t!
Shots in the rough or in bunkers will almost
always end up with the club going three inches
into the ground and the ball just toppling over.

Golf Tips For Beginners
January 20th, 2007
The game of golf is played on a golf course, which is basically a large grassy landscape, consisting of lakes, trees, and small hilly mounds and is part of the way the game is played. A typical golf course has either nine-holes or eighteen holes.
To play the game, a player would require golfing equipment such as playing clubs, shoes, tees, balls and a golf bag to store these items. The club is used to hit the golf ball into successive holes located on the golf course.
Before a player hits the ball, he/she must stand with their feet apart and knees slightly bent. Holding the club firmly with both hands (placed one on top of the other), the player turn his/her body at the waist along with the hip and back, thereby swinging the golf ball back and then forward. At the forward motion the ball is hit with force and the player’s club is seen to continue to swing out. A low shot or a putt cover will cover short distances and is used when the golf ball is quite close to the hole. In the case of a long shot, the ball moves very high in the air and travels a great distance before falling to the ground.
The game begins with the player placing a tee into the ground of the teeing area. A golf ball is placed on top of the tee and the player uses his or her club to swing and hit the ball. The objective here is to get the ball into the first hole on the golf course. After the first player’s shot, other players follow, with each attempting to put the ball into each hole around the golf course.
As players progress through the game, they have to confront difficulties called “Hazards”. Water bodies such as small lakes, trees, shrubs, rough and sand-filled traps are all hazards, that the player has to get around, is the process of hitting a small white golf ball into a sunken hole in the golf course. In a situation where the golf ball lands into a hazard, the player should not touch the ground or water before playing the ball, even for a practice swing. If the player chooses not to play their golf ball in a hazard, the ball can be moved to the place from where it was originally shot, but a penalty stroke is added to the total score. Of course, with time and practice, many a player is known to become skilled and adept at the game.
A ball is considered to be lost when it cannot be found within five minute of the shot. If the ball was hit by the player into an area that’s out of bounds or is lost, a penalty stroke is added to the player’s score and the player has to replay his/her last shot.
