Kierland Golf Club, in Scottsdale, Arizona, offers three nine-hole layouts designed by Scott Miller. The courses–Acacia, Mesquite and Ironwood–are named for trees that dominate the landscape. Each nine plays with a distinct style, all characterized by both desert-style layouts and traditional design elements. Kierland was named one of Golf Digest’s Best New Public Courses in 1996.
Talking Stick Golf Club is the 350-acre, 36-hole Arizona debut of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. The North Course offers links-style adventure, while the South Course offers traditional golf on tree-lined fairways. Talking Stick’s North Course is ranked by Golf Digest as one of the Best Courses in the State of Arizona, and Golf World Business ranks its golf shop one of “100 Best Golf Shops for 2001.” Talking Stick is also home to the West Coast Golf Digest Learning Center.
Troon North Golf Club’s Monument and Pinnacle courses are set amid the grandeur of the Sonoran Desert and Pinnacle Peak, in Scottsdale, Arizona; offering outstanding architecture by Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. Since opening in 1990, Troon North has garnered praise and awards. In addition to once again being ranked as the No. 1 and No. 2 Daily-fee courses in the State of Arizona, Troon North has been noted as the “Best Greens in America” and “Best Conditioned Course in America”.
Maderas Golf Club–an 18-hole design by Johnny Miller and Robert Muir Graves–offers upscale golf just north of San Diego. Framed by Sycamore Creek and hillside bluffs, the layout provides a serene forest setting that blends into natural canyons and ravines.
The Westin Mission Hills Resort – located in Rancho Mirage, California, is recognized as one of southern California’s premier golf facilities. The Gary Player Signature Course captures the essence of the picturesque desert, while the Pete Dye Resort Course boasts all of Dye’s trademarks, including the use of railroad ties, pot bunkers, elevated tees and hidden pin placements.
The mid-west, country setting of Eagle Ridge Inn & Resort, provides a relaxed yet spirited test of golf on four highly acclaimed courses that weave through 6,800 serene, rural acres in Illinois’ Galena Territory. Limestone bluffs and wooded hills that come into play here pleasantly contrast the rest of the “Prairie State.” The General Course is ranked by Golf Digest as one of the Best In the State of Illinois.
